Research Exhibits

The History of Madness website is an ideal forum for past/present explorations of mad art, activism, biography, and expressions of community. Our collaborative After the Asylum exhibit, launched in 2016, provides a historical window into the paradigm shift of mental health provision from the institution to the community.

We welcome new exhibits targeted at both community and academic audiences that use the flexible canvas of our site to present text, images, audio and video. Although much of our work privileges the perspectives of people with lived experience, we also welcome prospective exhibits from graduate students, community organizations, artists of all kinds and practitioners in the field. If you are interested in contributing an exhibit please complete and submit this exhibit application form to our Advisory Council.
