About Us

The History of Madness in Canada is a digital research, education and resource hub, with exhibits that explore different experiences, expertise, and viewpoints. Our contributors include community members, academics, and policy makers. Collectively, we are committed to the historical preservation of a wide variety of perspectives on mental health from across Canada. We welcome new exhibits and particularly encourage participation from people with lived experiences.

Please explore our growing site to find instructional materials for educational curricula resources for primary research or an historical account of deinstitutionalization across Canada. We are proud to support education and research that embraces diversity and recognizes the legacy of mad pride within our communities.
